Leaching Behavior of Cesium, Strontium, Cobalt, and Europium from Immobilized Cement Matrix

چکیده

Numerous low-level and intermediate-level radioactive wastes are generated from the decommissioning processes of nuclear power plants; these immobilized to prevent release radionuclides under disposal conditions. In this study, we investigated leaching behavior Cs, Sr, Co, Eu, which common in wastes. Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was used as an immobilization agent. During test, nuclides occurred order Eu decreased over time. The results showed that 41.4% total Cs leached 90 days, although other elements quantities less than 1.5%. CaCO3 precipitated by cementitious materials, indicating carbonation leachate. leachability indexes all cases exceeded acceptable criteria (>6). present study suggest OPC can be effectively a binding material immobilize (Cs, Eu) contained

Leaching Recovery of Zinc, Cobalt and Manganese from Zinc Purification Residue

This paper reports on the recovery of zinc, cobalt and manganese by two-step leaching of zinc-plants purification residue with sulfuric acid. The residue, hot filter press cake (HFC), contains 14 % ZnO, 4.8 % Co3O4 and 22.9 % MnO. Effects of different parameters are determined and used to optimize the process. With acid to hot filter press cake (HFC) stoichiometry of 0.85, acid concentration of...

Electrical Conduction Behavior of Cement-Matrix Composites

As structural materials, cement-matrix composites have received much attention in terms of their mechanical properties, but relatively little attention in terms of their electrical conduction properties. Nevertheless, the electrical properties are relevant to the use of the structural materials for non-structural purposes such as sensing and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The abi...

Hexavalent Chromium Leaching from Cements and Cement Composites

Chromium is one of the 25 most widespread elements in the Earth’s crust and occurs as an indelible non-volatile trace element in raw materials used in cement clinker production (clay, limestone and iron additives in particular). Chromium in raw materials mentioned above is mainly in form of trivalent chromium. Naturally occurring chromium (III) is not initially harmful, since it is chemically s...

Tolerance and accumulation of cesium and strontium in saprothophic fungi

Soil contamination by nuclear accidents has led to a resurgence of interest in microberadionuclide interactions. Soil fungi accumulate radioactive elements from contaminated soil, and it has been hypothesized that this may alter the availability of radionuclides to plants and alter their movement in particular areas. This study intended to demonstrate how soil saprotrophic fungi accumulated Cs ...
